Dear [Insert Name],

Thank you for your continued commitment to supporting the growth and integrity of Olympic sport. We know you are well aware of the current status of women’s Nordic Combined and the important decision the IOC will face this year regarding its inclusion in the 2030 Winter Games.

As you know, Nordic Combined remains the only Olympic discipline without gender equality - a fact that stands in sharp contrast to the IOC’s own commitment to full gender parity. Since the debut of the Women’s World Cup in 2020 and the 2021 World Championships, the progress in the sport has been significant. Athlete participation has grown steadily, international race opportunities have expanded, and national federations are now deeply invested in development. Most notably, the past few years of Junior World Championships have demonstrated true global competitiveness with medalists from Japan, the United States, and Europe—all athletes who will be in their prime in 2030. These are young women who have set their sights on Olympic dreams, and we’re hopeful those dreams become a reality.

The work being done globally is more coordinated than ever before. The Nordic Combined community is moving in one direction, with Germany, Austria, and Norway leading organized advocacy efforts. FIS has launched the first international development program supported by funding, and the “Nations Supporting Nations” initiative is helping bridge gaps between emerging and established programs—Norway and the U.S., and Austria and France, among others.

FIS and IOC media have shown unprecedented cooperation, and the IOC’s acknowledgment of women’s Nordic Combined on social media has not gone unnoticed. This short film produced by a filmmaker in Los Angeles, CA shows the sport is relevant, and people believe in the athletes. These signs of support give us hope.

The Nordic Combined community has recognized the IOC’s priorities—medal diversity, geographic reach, sustainability, and excitement, and we want to underscore that women’s Nordic Combined is delivering on all of these. The 2025 Junior World Championships in the U.S. and the World Championships in Trondheim showcased the results of nations coming together to grow and support Women’s Nordic Combined, and we trust you noticed the depth of the field and the success of nations such as the U.S. and Japan. The introduction of new formats like mass start and compact races, the success of events outside Europe (a World Cup in Lake Placid, New York is on the FIS draft calendar), and innovations like shared waxing for sustainability are all part of that story.

I am reaching out to encourage your support. You have the knowledge, the context, and the platform to advocate for this final step toward equity in our sport. Your voice within the IOC matters deeply, and we hope you will use it in support of inclusion for women’s Nordic Combined in 2030.

There is still time to make history. Thank you for all you have already done—and all we hope you will do—to help make it possible.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
